# Blocking Time Off

You can block time off in the appointment calendar if you would like to make sure that clients are not able to book appointments during that time. This is useful if you are taking a vacation or if you are not available for appointments during a certain time of the day. Additionally, you can create a store-wide block for events such as holidays, which is a convenient way to block off all your schedules at the same time.

### Holidays and Store Closure

To mark your store as closed, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the [Appointments Calendar](https://go.cloudbridal.com/appointments) page and go to the day you want to block off.
2. Open **Manage day**: in the Day view, click **Day notes** above the calendar; in the Week and Month views, click the gear beside the date.
3. Tick the **Mark store closed** checkbox and click **Save**.

This will block off all of your schedules for that day at the same time. Existing appointments stay booked, so cancel any that fall on the day.

### Individual Schedule Blocks

To block off a specific schedule, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to the [Appointments Calendar](https://go.cloudbridal.com/appointments) page and go to the day you want to create a schedule block for.
2. Click **New appointment › Schedule block**, or click a time on the calendar and choose **Schedule block**. Then select **One-time block**.
3. Select the time range you want to block off, and then select the schedule you want to block off.
4. Click **Save**.

This will block off the selected schedule for a selected period of time. If you are running simultaneous schedules, this option allows you to run at reduced capacity, which is handy if someone needs to take the day off.

### Recurring Schedule Blocks

You can also create recurring blocks if you would like to have a block repeat itself on a recurring basis.

1. Navigate to the [Appointments Calendar](https://go.cloudbridal.com/appointments) page and go to the day you want to create a schedule block for.
2. Click **New appointment › Schedule block**, or click a time on the calendar and choose **Schedule block**. Then select **Recurring block**.
3. Select a day of week, start time, end time, and schedule to block.
4. Decide on how you would like the block to repeat (_Weekly_ or _Monthly_), as well as your repeat frequency.
5. Select a start and end date. The end date is optional if you would like the block to repeat indefinitely.
6. Click **Save**.

###### Changing a Recurring Schedule Block

You can always override a recurring block for a specific day of week. This allows you to modify the start/end time for that day or remove the block altogether. Any changes you make in this context will not affect the future occurrences unless you modify the recurring block itself.
