Label Printing & Scanning

Plan Requirement: Core or Ultimate

CloudBridal offers advanced label printing capabilities for your inventory items, including customizable layouts and QR code generation for quick scanning. This guide covers both printing labels and using the barcode scanning features.

Label Printing Requirements

Setting Up Your DYMO Printer

  1. IMPORTANT: Install the DYMO Connect software before plugging in your printer for the first time. FOR MAC USERS, PLEASE FOLLOW ADDITIONAL STEPS BELOW.
  2. After installing the software, connect your DYMO printer to your computer and power outlet.
  3. Load your DYMO labels into the printer according to the instructions provided.
  4. Print a test label using the DYMO Connect software to ensure everything is set up correctly.

Installing DYMO On a Mac

Installing DYMO on a Mac can be challenging in a few parts, so use the steps below to guide you through the process.

  1. Restart your computer to start from a clean slate. Do not skip over this step - it's important.
  2. Download DYMO Connect for Desktop through this link by selecting the Search by Machine option.
  3. Install the software as you normally would.
  4. At the end of the install, you should see a terminal window pop up and will look like the image below. It will prompt you to enter your admin password. It is very important you enter it correctly here. When you type your password, it won't appear to do anything but that's just because it's hidden. After you've typed in your password, press enter.

  1. Next, a confirmation window will display. Type your password in again to confirm.

  1. Open the DYMO Connect software. You may encounter a "System Extension Blocked" message. If you do, select the Open System Settings button from the message.

  1. Select the Driver Extensions menu item with the com.dymo.dymo-connect.usb subheading.

  1. Enable the DYMO Connect option and click Done.

  1. Using Spotlight (Command-Space bar shortcut), open the DYMO.WebApi.Mac.Host application. This is what allows CloudBridal to communicate with DYMO.

  1. If you've followed all steps until now, DYMO should be successfully installed and ready for printing.

Printing Labels in CloudBridal

You can print labels in two ways:

  1. Individual Item Labels: From an inventory item's detail page, click the Print Label button at the top.
  2. Batch Label Printing: From the inventory list, click the Print Labels button, select multiple items, then click Begin Print.

Both methods will open the label printing configuration screen:

Enhanced Label Features

QR Code Labels

Plan Requirement: Ultimate

Ultimate plan subscribers can generate labels with scannable QR codes:

  • QR codes are enabled by default in the label settings
  • These codes link directly to the inventory item in CloudBridal
  • When scanned, they instantly pull up the item details

Customizable Label Layout

Recent updates allow for greater label customization:

  • Repositionable Elements: Drag and resize label elements like item name, vendor name, price, etc.
  • Custom Text: Add custom text on a per-label basis for special details
  • Layout Memory: Save your position settings so the system remembers your preferred layout
  • Silhouette Display: Include the item's silhouette information on the label

The Label Printing Screen

When printing labels, you'll see each variant of the selected item:

  • Quantity: Adjust how many labels to print for each variant
  • Toggle Variants: Turn specific variants on/off to include/exclude them
  • Label Size: Select the DYMO label SKU you're using (auto-detected on 550 series printers)
  • Content Settings: Choose which item details to display (price, item type, etc.)
  • Layout: Drag elements to customize their position and size
  • Custom Text: Add special notes or details to individual labels

Click the Print button when your configuration is complete.

Barcode Scanning Features

Plan Requirement: Ultimate

With labels that include QR codes, you can use CloudBridal's scanning features. See Hardware Requirements for details about supported barcode scanners. Once you've purchased and connected a compatible scanner, you can scan items in one of two ways:

  1. When the New Order screen is open: this will add the scanned item to the order as a From Inventory order.
  2. Anywhere else in CloudBridal: this will pull up the item details.

Configuration Settings

Customize your default label settings in the Inventory Item Settings page:

  • Default Label Type: Set your preferred DYMO label type. While the DYMO 550 series automatically detects your installed label size, other DYMO printers do not and so you may wish to set your default type instead.
  • Enable QR Code Scanning: Enable/disable QR codes - Ultimate plan only
  • Label Font Name: You can type in the name of a font from the DYMO Connect software, and it will use that font style for generated labels.
  • Display Toggles: You can choose which item data to display on the label by default. This can be overridden later per-item when printing labels.

Troubleshooting

Mac

SSL Error When Printing?

If you are encountering an SSL error when trying to print, it means that your DYMO SSL certificate is either expired or not installed correctly. In either case, we recommend the following steps:

  1. Using Spotlight (Command-Space bar shortcut), open the Keychain Access application.
  2. In the top-right search bar, type "localhost"

  1. If you don't see any results, it means your DYMO software is not installed correctly. You need to follow the steps above in the Installing DYMO On a Mac section. If you do find results and they are expired based on the Expires column in the table, you will need to delete each expired certificate from the list. Then follow the steps above in the Installing DYMO On a Mac section.

Windows

The majority of DYMO issues on Windows can be fixed by reinstalling the software:

  1. Click the Start icon and search for "Add or remove programs".
  2. In the tool, search for "dymo"

  1. Uninstall both DYMO Connect and DYMO Connect Web Service.
  2. Download the latest version of DYMO Connect at this link.
  3. Install the software.
  4. Perform a test print using the DYMO Connect software.
